Chris Wainwright Prize for Climate Change

The Chris Wainwright Prize for Climate Change was a $750 award within the BarTur Photo Award, named in memory of Professor Chris Wainwright — a founding member of the award in 2011, Pro Vice-Chancellor at University of the Arts London, and dedicated climate artist who died in 2017.

His practice spanned photography, performance, and installation, taking him to the High Arctic and remote locations worldwide, including Kamaishi, Japan after the 2011 tsunami.

The prize honours that legacy by supporting one climate change winner each year to develop an existing project or begin a new one, and is open to both students and professionals submitting single images or series of up to five.
